Global Species Databases
As part of the Species2000
initiative CABI is incorporating
Global Species Databases (GSD) and Regional Species Databases (RSD) in the Catalogue
of Life. GSDs contain complete, internally consistent taxonomy of a single species,
or all species in a genus or higher taxon, on a global basis. RSDs are derived
from regional checklists or other lists (e.g. of agriculturally important fungi).
Some of these data result from in-house work and others have been contributed
by other experts. We are grateful for these data-sets and full acknowledgement
to the original compilers is stated. Contact links to compilers web sites where
additional information (e.g. bibliographies, illustrations and on-line identification
keys) is available. If you would like to contribute data please contact Paul
Kirk.
On the GSD search page enter a search term to locate a GSD genus, or click on
View Order and traverse the taxonomic hierarchy from Order to Family and Genus.
The search term can be right truncated, e.g. ‘hypoxy’ (do not add
a * or % to the end of the search string - we will do that for you). Click on
a genus to see all the GSD species entries in Index Fungorum associated with this
genus. These entries are linked to full publication data for the accepted species
synonymy.
